Scorpion EXO-530 Air – Sport touring helmet with Airfit adjustment
This helmet comes with a clear visor!

After 200 kilometres on the Brenner route, you know whether a helmet is really any good. The Scorpion EXO-530 Air won me over – in exactly the areas that matter: a stable fit without pressure points, effective ventilation even in midsummer and noise insulation that doesn't get annoying even at 130 km/h. As a further development of the popular EXO-520 Air, Scorpion is launching an ECE 22.06-certified full-face helmet that cuts a fine figure both in commuter traffic and on extended weekend tours. Particularly clever: the AirFit system with inflatable cheek pads, which allows you to achieve a truly individual fit – using a pump ball in the chin section while the helmet is already on your head. What I also love about the EXO-530 Air is the integrated sun visor, which can be adjusted continuously. This is invaluable in changing light conditions on country roads.

What sets the Scorpion EXO-530 Air apart in practice
The polycarbonate shell of the EXO-530 Air is manufactured in three different sizes – this means that size S does not simply have more padding stuffed into an XL shell, but a specially adapted outer shell. The result? A more compact look, better aerodynamics and, above all, a fit that really fits. During my tours through the Alps, I found that even after four hours in the saddle, there were no pressure points on my forehead or cheeks. This is not least due to the AirFit system – you simply inflate the cheek pads until the helmet fits snugly but not too tightly. This also noticeably reduces wind noise. When it comes to ventilation, Scorpion has gone the extra mile with the EXO-530 Air: the aerodynamically optimised air intakes on the chin and crown can be opened continuously – a blessing in stop-and-go traffic on hot summer days. The air is directed through channels in the EPS foam and discharged at the back of the head. This works much better than in many cheaper helmets; even when riding slowly through the city, you feel a constant flow of air. When it rains, simply close the ventilation openings – that's it. Not a single drop gets in.
About the visor: The Optical Class 1 visor is not just a marketing gimmick. Its variable thickness means there is no optical distortion – important when you are concentrating on the road for hours on end. The Ellip-Tec II mechanism presses the visor firmly against the rubber seal, resulting in a completely airtight fit and low noise levels. The tool-free visor change really works: open the visor, release the two side tabs, snap in the new visor – it takes less than 10 seconds. The Pinlock 70 MaxVision included in the scope of delivery ensures that you maintain a clear view even in fog or cold weather. The wide MaxVision cut-out covers almost the entire field of vision. The integrated sun visor (called SpeedView) can be operated using a slide switch on the left-hand side and locked in several positions. You can find the lever blindly, even with winter gloves on. This feature really pays off when the sun is low on country road trips – no stopping, no visor changes, just pull down the visor. The anti-fog coating does what it promises. The KwikFit cheek pads have recesses for spectacle arms – you can wear your glasses comfortably without the arms pressing after 20 minutes. The KwikWick III inner lining feels pleasantly soft, reliably wicks away moisture (hypoallergenic and antimicrobial) and can be completely removed. Pop it in the washing machine, leave it to dry, put it back in – it couldn't be easier. Technical data at a glance Material and workmanship: Robust polycarbonate outer shell in three shell sizes (XS-S / M-L / XL-3XL) for optimal fit and aerodynamics. Weight between 1550 and 1620 grams depending on size – a fair value for an ECE 22.06 helmet with sun visor.
- Available sizes and fit information:
Available in sizes XXS to XXXL. The three shell sizes ensure that each helmet size is proportionally correct. The AirFit system allows for subsequent fine-tuning via inflatable cheek pads (pump ball integrated into the chin section). The fit tends to be sporty and snug – if you are between two sizes, choose the larger one.
- Safety features and certifications:
ECE R22.06 certification – meets the EU standard mandatory from 2024 with stricter requirements for shock absorption, stripping protection and field of vision. Emergency Release System: In an emergency, first responders can quickly remove the cheek pads without having to take off the helmet completely.
- Visor and sun visor:
Optical Class 1 visor (clear) including Pinlock 70 MaxVision anti-fog insert. Ellip-Tec II quick-change mechanism for tool-free visor replacement. Integrated SpeedView sun visor, height-adjustable with EverClear anti-fog coating. Additional visors in tinted and mirrored versions available separately.
- Ventilation:
Dual-position mouth ventilation and adjustable crown ventilation. Ventilation channels in the EPS foam efficiently direct airflow through the helmet. Rear exhaust for optimal draught. City position on the visor allows for a gap for additional fresh air intake in city traffic.
- Inner lining:
KwikWick III inner lining – moisture-wicking, hypoallergenic, antimicrobial. Completely removable and washable (hand wash or gentle cycle recommended). 3D Contour Fit with laser-cut foam for an anatomically precise fit. KwikFit recesses for spectacle wearers.
- Closure and operation:
Micrometric quick-release fastener – easy to open and close even when wearing gloves. Breath deflector and nose guard (chin guard) included – further reduce draughts and visor fogging.
- Communication:
Prepared for EXOCOM Bluetooth system. Built-in speaker pockets facilitate retrofitting of communication systems.
- Care and cleaning instructions:
Clean the visor with clear water and a soft microfibre cloth – do not use aggressive cleaning agents. If necessary, rinse the Pinlock insert with lukewarm water and allow to air dry. Wash the inner lining by hand or on a gentle cycle (30°C), do not spin dry. Wipe the outside of the helmet shell with a damp cloth.
- Scope of delivery:
Scorpion EXO-530 Air full-face helmet, clear visor, Pinlock 70 MaxVision anti-fog insert, breath deflector, nose guard, helmet bag.
- Compatibility:
Suitable for spectacle wearers thanks to the KwikFit system. Prepared for EXOCOM Bluetooth communication system. Compatible with Scorpion replacement visors from the KDF series (sold separately in various tints).
