Shoei self-tinting visor CWR-1 Photocromatic for helmet X-Spirit 3 / NXR / RYD
The egg-laying Wollmilchsau under the visors! Depending on the brightness, this visor darkens automatically due to its light-sensitive coating. This process - from very clear to maximum toned - takes about 30-40 seconds. If the sun shines very strongly, it darkens even as strongly as the "dark smoked". When the sun's rays are reduced, the "Photochromatic" goes with it and reduces the tint accordingly - even to bad weather or dusk, when it comes almost to the clear of the tintless "Clear". The color impression is more reddish especially with strong tint and becomes with decrease this ever more neutral.prepared for Pinlock

This is how the self-tinting visor CWR-1 Photocromatic by Shoei works
A self-tinting visor is the most comfortable option for effective sun protection. The world's leading manufacturer Transitions has developed just that for SHOEI helmets NXR, RYD and X-Spirit III (CWR-1). A chemical reaction permanently adapts the tint of the visor. The self-tinting CWR-1 visor darkens automatically when driving, depending on the intensity of the sun's rays (= UV light). Thus, rides in cloudy weather, in bright sunlight as well as in darkness without visor changes possible.
The equally harmful UV rays for the eyes and for the skin are reduced by the "Photochromic" for the driver to 100%. As it were, this visor is a variable sunscreen for the eyes.
How fast it works depends on the temperature as well, as the molecules can move faster and thus change, the warmer it is. In good weather pass from very clear to maximum tinted only about 40 seconds.
For this process to happen, depending on the UV irradiation, trillions of molecules change their structure and darken. When the sun goes down, these visors automatically become clearer again.
Normal scratches do not reduce the tinting ability of the visor due to additional protective layers. However, the visor should not be permanently exposed to the blazing sun when not in use, as a permanent UV irradiation can damage the visor with time.
Like any other visor, even the self-tinting can be cleaned gently and with the usual cleaning methods.
The exclusive development and research of Transitions in this field is based on 20 years of experience. Transitions Optical is thus the only optics company with its own tinting technology.
