The peculiarities of the Panamericana motorcycle pants by Modeka
3M Scotchlite ™At dusk and in the dark, 3M Scotchlite ™ significantly improves the visibility of motorcyclists. Scotchlite ™ Reflective Materials have an open, wide-angle retroreflective system of catadioptric glass beads. Other reflective materials require direct incident light to function because of their construction. Scotchlite ™ emits light, even when not directly incident, brilliantly white and tightly bundled back to the light source. Silver Scotchlite ™ exceeds even the highest European standards in simulated heavy rainfall.
Tactel
The dynamic specialty polyamide fiber Tactel® is used to create garments that are soft, pleasantly smooth, breathable and lightweight. Thus, the Tactel® material of DU PONT® gives a superior wearing comfort. Strict testing has shown that Tactel® fibers are at least twice as soft and 20 percent lighter than most other fibers. They also dry eight times faster than cotton. Not only are Tactel® fibers soft and lightweight, they also have high tear resistance.
cordura®
Cordura® is a high quality polyamide fabric cut from and how recovers spun fibers. Its lightly textured, natural weave look makes it comfortable to wear and significantly better than other nylon materials. In this extremely abrasion-resistant and tear-resistant material, there are different measures of thread sizes, known under the abbreviation D (= denier). Modeka only processes Cordura® with a yarn count of at least 500 D, bringing the safety standard to a very high level. The highest thread strength, 1000 D Cordura®, is mainly used at crash points.
DuPont ™ Aramid®
The DuPont ™ Aramid® material combines strength with light weight. Aramid® is woven from aramid and nylon fibers. The extremely abrasion and tear resistant material is five times stronger than steel at the same weight. Thus, the use of Aramid® is ideally suited for motorcycle clothing and is mainly used at crash sites. In addition, Modeka uses Aramid® on some textile pants for protection from the exhaust.
Sympatex®
The Sympatex® membrane consists of a copolymer of polyester (water-repellent effect), and polyether (water vapor-permeable effect). The weight is about 30 g per jacket or 2 g per shoe. Water can not penetrate from the outside (water column:> 45,000 mm), but water vapor molecules are passed through the membrane from inside to outside in a physico-chemical way. The advantage: Since there are no pores, they can not be added by detergent residues or salt crystals. Thus, the breathability remains long term.
The Sympatex® membrane is a closed hydrophilic polyester membrane, meaning that it has no pores. The membrane is only 1/100 mm thin, transparent and slightly opaque, 100% waterproof, 100% windproof and optimally breathable. This gives the wearer absolute independence from the weather - and at every opportunity. The Sympatex® membrane is 100% recyclable. It consists of a harmless polyetherester and is therefore absolutely environmentally friendly.
